about

Born in 1970, JOE considers Denver to be his home with his family and San Francisco / Crested Butte to be their other homes. JOE, being deaf most of his life has taught him to learn visually. He uses the camera a tool in which he documents time and space. The image can be beautiful and ugly at the same time, what was new and shiny one day might be worn and decomposed the next, but each image has a speech to make.
As always, JOE's work is uniquely original and creative and each image has a mystery.
JOE's work is mainly photography; consisting of close up abstracts and photo collage. The abstract photography can range from 8" to 36" from the subject and uses each print as a painting, a sculpture, or a storybook, using the imagination of the viewer's eye. For collage photography, selecting a range of 150 to 300 from about 500 prints and mounting them onto a stretched canvas, he uses each print as an artist might use a brushstroke of color, building texture and depth to tell story in time.
